The development tools for Java Web Technology Servlets and Java Server Pages (JSP) have often proven to be insufficient for the productive development of browser-based interfaces. It is clear that demand exists for frameworks that can uniformly regulate the many non-standardized aspects of J2EE. Furthermore, a way must be found to support both programming languages to develop SAP applications with the WebDynpro technology using Java and ABAP. Similarly, the opportunity now exists to run WebDynpro applications with the help of both technologies because of the different run-time environments in the SAP Web Application Server.

No programming required
The WebDynpro Technology is a completely new development of the original Dynpro. It is based on its own programming model. It separates the user guidance from the processing logic using a generic metamodel.
